Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Provide First Aid are two indispensable units of competency in Australia that define the critical skills and knowledge needed to administer life-saving CPR and first aid. The Provide CPR unit emphasizes the execution of CPR following the rigorous Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines, relevant across diverse settings such as community and workplace environments. It encompasses recognizing emergencies, ensuring safety, assessing the casualty, and executing CPR procedures, including utilizing an automated external defibrillator (AED).
The Provide First Aid unit extends to delivering a comprehensive first aid response aligned with ARC guidelines and other national clinical bodies. This involves addressing a spectrum of conditions and illnesses, comprehending legal and ethical considerations, and utilizing available resources and equipment to aid a casualty. Both units are indispensable for individuals who may need to respond to health emergencies, equipping them to act with confidence and effectiveness.
